Meet the Training Team

 

Alastair Johnston, BVMS, Cert VA, MRCVS.

Alastair graduated in 1983 from Glasgow University. He joined the Minster Veterinary practice in 1985 following two years working at Liverpool University. In 1989 he became a partner in the veterinary practice. For the past 12 years Alastair has worked in the poultry department of the practice, building it up to a four centre department with eight poultry vets and numerous lay staff. In 2003 he was elected as president of the British Poultry Veterinary Association. Alastair has also served on various national advisory poultry committees. In 2008 he moved away from clinical work to establish and then develop the training department.

Alastair is married with two children, Lucy and Tom, who graduated from University during the summer of 2008. He enjoys outdoor sports, including golf, cycling and walking. Recently Alastair and his wife, Jane, qualified as PADI open water divers. 

           

 

Margaret Popplewell

Margaret joined MVP Training in April 2008.  She has extensive experience in developing the training function within a commercial organisation and has worked with a number of major companies including CGU Insurance and Mellon Financial, most recently as Director of Learning and Development for BNYMellon Asset Servicing. She has developed and successfully executed the technical and business skills training to support Mergers & Acquisitions, new ventures and business re-engineering, including the establishment of a new processing centre inPune, India; and has integrated US and UK training groups to create an expanded global team supporting the training and development of several thousand staff. Her skills and experience are invaluable in the development of our new training department and the implementation of client and staff training programmes   

Margaret is a devotee of Radio Four and an avid Archers fan; she enjoys travelling, gardening and the theatre and spending time with family and friends
